I Was Blessed

It is hard to believe that a month has passed since I headed off on vacation but it has and here I am! It was a wonderful time of renewal and now a new year begins. Before we can think about it we will be back in the full swing of things. However there still are a few weeks left before that happens and I hope that you have each been able to find some time for your own relaxation and renewal.

I Was Blessed

While I was away my morning practice was to wake early, make a cup of coffee and sit out on the banks of my river for a time of meditation. There were many things that happened in that space, from writing to reading to simply taking in the beauty that surrounded me. This is just a sample of a typical, or not so typical morning.

Lone KayakerIt was early morning
The wind was still asleep
The sun was rising over the water
And the water was smooth as glass.
Creation was beginning to sing.

The paddle of a lone kayaker
Broke the calm of the water
And glided effortlessly across the surface.
One with the river
Encompassed by creation.

As silent onlooker
Peace and tranquility flooded my soul.
I was reminded of possibility and promise.
I was surrounded by mystery
Consumed with beauty.

A light welled up within
A sense of calm filled my being
My spirit sang

I was blessed!
